| i will have a "5 hour and 30 min" stopover in japan. and i want to visit a store in tokyo during that time. will i need a visa to exit the airport? and if so, is it possible to get one in korea being a US citizen? so that i won't have to wait in any "visa line" at the airport if do need one, if they even give them out at the airport. |

You don't need a visa to enter Japan as an American. You'll get a stamp at immigration and your photo taken and fingerprinted. I was there twice last year. Once it was fast the other time it was a bit slow to get through.
I'm assuming you mean Narita airport (Tokyo's main airport). It's worth noting it's about an hour train ride into Tokyo from there. It also costs about $30 each way. You'll be cutting it pretty close I'd think to get to your store on time and back (assuming you'll want to be there 2 hours before your next flight to check in). |
