If you were hoping for a nice juicy story, I'm afraid this is not it. I went to the hospital on Friday with a cold and there are no prizes for guessing where they sent me...It was very cute and all with pics all over the walls but the guy was horrified when they sent me into his consultation room. I guess I'm lucky I wasn't redirected to the Vet, right?! Laughing

Why did you get sent there? Was he the only English speaking doctor there?

I have no idea as nobody spoke English except him. I thought it would be awfully rude to ask him why or how we got stuck with each other. In addition, it's quite a big hospital so could he really have been the only one able to speak English? I've also NEVER had such a quick consultation. He barely touched me and didn't check my lungs (a run-of-the-mill thing when someone has the flu, especially with the H1N1 doing the rounds). I am still sick btw... Rolling Eyes

My American friend went to Severance but got a docter who spoke very little English (or was too nervous to talk). I am pretty damn sure Severance has English speaking doctors and even American doctors. Yet my friend has never gotten an English speaking doctor the three times he's been there. Once was a pretty bad emergency too.

Poor you, PS... That was the thing I hated the most when I first landed in Korea - the inability to communicate with doctors or other professionals. I was SO independent back home.

Anyway, Fermentation, Severance has English speaking doctors - your friend should have gone to the International Clinic. Dr. John Linton is the head of the clinic and the whole team speaks English. The only thing is, of course, that you have to pay more for the privilege. But it's worth every single penny, IMHO!

I was sent to one by accident also...

I found it embarrassing that the office had no doors and no privacy...

and a young nurse insisted that she take my shirt off - when I could have done it myself no problem...

I was actually faking sickness just to get a "medical certificate" - so I thought the whole thing of the nurse insisting that she take my shirt off - whilst all the other korean patients including children stared in disbelief...

I got the medical certificate anyway - (and time off work)
