Seems like other people are in a similar bind to me. I will be sending my final docs on Thursday. I'm worried that the NOA won't arrive in time for me to get my visa based on some of the posts I'm reading for arrival by the 23rd. Am also working through Korvia.

I need to give my current job notice soon so I can at least give them two weeks. I don't like burning bridges. Do I chance it and pray that the NOA arrives and that my consulate (which is just down the steet) can issue a visa quickly?? Or do I tell the recruiter that there's too little time left and that I'd like to apply for February when I don't feel so rushed?

I don't know how long exactly the NOA takes, but the visa issuance number (similar document for the private schools) takes about two weeks. I would assume that it would take about the same time, but who knows. Your recruiter/school should be able to tell you how long it should take.

Each consulate is a little different. The Atlanta consulate says it takes 2-3 days for a visa minus mailing time, but if you have to go there for your interview, I think it's a same day thing.

Thanks. The consulate is about a 20 minute drive from where I live so I'm hoping they can just issue me the visa on the spot.

Well, SMOE received my documents on July 21st and notified me through my recruiter on the 30th that I would be receiving my NOA shortly. My recruiter just contacted me today, August 4th, that she mailed out my NOA and that I would getting it either tomorrow or Thursday, so 2 weeks sounds about right.
