Maybe this will only be of interest to kiwiduncan, but oh well.

An act of green is anything you do that helps the environment- from using a reusable water bottle, to installing solar panels on the house. You can register on the website, check off a list of things you do, or plan to do and it will tell you how much greenhouse gas you've saved

The program was launched in Canada last fall, and we managed to hit the million mark in a little over three months.

This kind of stuff reminds me of a prominent environmentalist who was trying to get people to change their daily habits/"be green"/etc...all while she flew around in a private jet.

In an interview with The Guardian in November 2006, David acknowledged that owning two homes on opposite sides of the country and flying in a private jet several times per year is at odds with her message to others. In the interview she notes "Yes, I take a private plane on holiday a couple of times a year, and I feel horribly guilty about it. I probably shouldn't do it. But the truth is, I'm not perfect. This is not about perfection. I don't expect anybody else to be perfect either. That's what hurts the environmental movement holding people to a standard they cannot meet. That just pushes people away."[6]
