|
|
My wife has now become more health conscious. She wants to switch to all stainless steel pots and pans instead of using any silverstone-type non-stick pans. It doesn't help that we were cautioned not to cook with the non-stick pans around our birds, because they can produce a gas that will kill the bird. Didn't sound too healthy for us, either.
The problem is that the stainless steel pan we have is just horrible to clean. Stuff sticks to it so easily. Are they all that way? Anyone have any suggestions on what brands are good in Korea? Any advice you can offer on stainless steel cookware?
Thanks. |

Cast iron fryers and griddles are easy to clean up after it's been properly seasoned. Plain hot water and a scrub brush is all it takes.
Stainless steel would be good for boiling, stewing, etc. Probably best for saucepans and soup pots. Enameled cookware is nice too, but man, I've scorched stuff in those that is a bear to clean up.
Is she Korean, Bass? I'm intrigued with the traditional earthenware and would like to learn more of it's uses. |

there is a trick to cooking with stainless steel pans. I haven't cooked much with stainless steel frying pans but apparently the trick is to heat it up few a minutes then let it cool down a bit and then add your oil and start cooking.
If you want an enamel pot Le Crueset is good. It is from france so it is really expensive here. The last time the wife and i were in canada we were lucky to get a couple of pots for about a hundred each. They are about twice that price here. Costco in Busan had a Le Crueset pot and grill for sale last week. I don't know if the Costcos up in seoul would have it. Hyundai department store sells them and sometimes will have a sale. they are expensive but as long as you take care of them they will last forever. They are made from cast iron and covered with enamel. They are really heavy.
A company called chef win makes good stainless steal pots. Its a korean company that has made top notch cook ware for foriegn companys. they are trying to establish their own brand now. You can get it from hyundai department store. They are not exactly cheap but cheaper than the german stuff they sell and the quality is really good. Great for cooking. As long as you take care of them you will never have to buy another pot. they last for ever. A good set of pots and pans will last for ever and save you money in the long run, |

Sangbong Costco has cast iron skillets. They're not cheap, but they'll last forever (and make for a pretty good weapon to boot!) |
