|
|
Long story, but I had to order new pin numbers for my debit and credit cards from the USA. They will take about a week and I'm a little short on cash in my Korean bank account. Does anyone know of any stores that take USA cards? I found a few bars even some taxi cabs that took them. Any thoughts on actual grocery stores etc? Is it common for them to work? I was a little surprised when the cab driver and bars took it! |

Uh, the major credit cards like Mastercard and Visa should work internationally. American debit cards would be another story though... |

yeah, you'd think so. It seems that most stores don't take them here though. In fact, to get money out of the ATM, my credit card has never worked, but my debit card usually works (at global ATMs). But the strange thing is, sometimes my debit card can get money out and other times it doesn't process. It goes about 50/50. My problem this time is that I don't have my pins, I had to re-order new ones. It'd be nice to find a grocery store that takes American visa/mastercards without having to imput the pin number (for situations like this). |

If it has a visa or master card logo, then you can use it anywhere. I did that when I first came to Korea. It works like a charm. It's also good if you are concerned about getting an international ATM card in Korea. Of course, some say KEB gives those out these days. |

I have a Visa credit card as well a a visa debit card. If I used these all the times at stores would I get some sort of fee added on for each use? |

Probably if it's not issued in Korea. 1% of the total purchase price or something for me. Call your card company. |
