|

I'm referring to the Seoul Infinite Dream Series ads I see in the Korea times every time I link to it.
the line is "Infinite Pleasure, Enjoy Seoul".
Oooh. Oh so close.
It occurs to me that would have aced this had they stayed on the infinite theme
e.,g.
Infinite Pleasure, Infinite Seoul.
that my friends, has a definite "ring" to it... A cool one
to my ears/eyes at least.
the "infinitely yours, Seoul" ending I think works too.
First such ad campaign I've seen in Korea where they got it right.
well.. almost! |

i like it.
It's just as Engrishee as "korea sparkling" but with a sort of trying-to-be-sexy tone to it. |

had they not gone off course...
and stayed with Infinite Pleasure, Infinite Seoul..
that my friend is NOT Engrishee. That is a first class slogan. Clever. Catchy... and the whole soul/seoul thing even adds to the layers of depths to it.
Something you'd see on a good alcohol advertising campaign. for fine whiskey or something like that.
but instead of hitting it out of the park, it only went as far as the warning track.. |

Yes, that sounds pretty good. But like you said, isn't quite there because it doesn't rhyme! Still, better than Korea Sparkling. Haha. |

Infinite pleasure, infinite seoul doesn't rhyme.
but koreans have yet to master the art of using a single killer adjective. We've seen this concept on many an advertising campaign.
and infinite is a damn good adjective.
and with seoul/soul thing on top of it - it's even BETTER.
it could have been KILLER.
I may have even put in a third line
infinite pleasure, infinite possibilities, infinite seoul.
in fact, THAT is the advertising slogan and campaign I would submit if I were up for an ad contract for the Seoul Tourism Office.
(if the word pleasure would rile someone somewhere, you could use infinite adventure)
Instead someone screws it all up by using "enjoy".
Infinite pleasure, enjoy seoul.

They've ALWAYS loved, overused and misused "enjoy", and for about a year or two now I've seen 무한한 front & centre in Korean advertising copy, and then repeated ad nauseum in scads of crummy English ads (Infinite Passion, Infinite Happiness, Infinite Challenge, Infinite Potential, etc.) so there's your "infinite."
An extremely Korean reader-friendly slogan.
Infinite Pleasure. If I ever open a room salon, I got the name ready to go. |

I particularly like infinite becase for vacation purposes, you want to advertise something without barriers.. aka infinite possibilities.
it also works particularly well because of seol and soul. After all, souls are infinite.
Ha.. yes works for a massage parlor too
why can't the morons who come up with these Konglish campaigns ask a native speaker to review/help what they've come up with?
after all, these campaigns aren't aimed at Koreans.
a night of booking or better yet a trip to a local room salon would be more than adequate payment and considering the money at stake the outlay would be trivial. |
