My E-2 expires on the 24th, but I need to stay in Korea another couple weeks (not teaching, just hanging out waiting for a visa letter to the grad school I'm going to). I can take the ferry to Fuokoka and then just hop right back on it and get a 30 day tourist visa immediately, right?

Depending on how long those "two weeks" are, you can get a short extension on your visa BEFORE it actually expires at Immi and save yourself the trip and money.

Not sure how long the extension is (anybody??), but it's possible to legally stay for a short time once you've completed your contract past your visa expiry date.

You can get a 30 day extension without leaving the country. I've had plenty friends do it and I've done it so it shouldn't be a problem

Since you aren't online right now, I will post here. You can file for an extension of up to 30 days for free online. Now, your time is limited, but it can be done. If I were you, I would actually go to immigration myself and get it done. I filed for mine 2 weeks ago. I only need 4 days, but I was granted 30.

Yes, losing_touch and asams are right. An extension of 30 days is correct.

Indeed. However, I don't think the OP cares anymore since he left Korea!
