Most Sex Crimes Happen on Subway Line No. 2
Most sexual offenses on the subway occurred on Line No. 2, the Seoul Metropolitan Police said Sunday. Based on investigation of 345 sex offenders apprehended on subway trains since January, the subway police squad said line No. 2 saw 213 or 61.7 percent of all offenses. It was followed by Line No. 4 (52 or 15.1 percent) and Line No. 1 (18 or 5.2 percent).
Lee Sang-man, a senior officer at the Seoul subway police squad, said such crimes occur most frequently between Seoul National University and Jamsil stations. "The reason seems to be that many women commute to the Gangnam region and they wear relatively low-cut dresses and short skirts," he claimed.
Some 221 or 64.1 percent of the offenders groped women on the subway trains, mostly during morning rush hours. The hours between 7 and 9 a.m. were the most dangerous time for women since many people rush into or out of subway trains at the same time and many victims reluctantly ignore the groping as they are in a hurry to get to work.

well in all fairness, Korean girls are asking for it sometimes..
I mean like , some of those skirts are so short now, you can see their panties while they walk.. western people are supposed to be open minded and less conservative they ASIANS... but any women seen wearing half the things korean girls wear downtown would be labeled a *beep*, *beep* or both... |

There did seem to be some excusing being made by the police.

Strange though that the Chosun Ilbo didn't accompany this piece with usual selection of upskirt photos themselves.
What surprises me is the officer's suggestion that the police actually prosecute rather than sit perpetrator and victim in the same room and make them apologise to each other. |

i was on the subway one time, rush hour line 2, and some dude kept pushing my hand into this girls ass. by the 4th attempt i realized he was doing it on purpose so i nudged him in the stomach and he quit.
weird thing is the girl didn't even flinch the whole time. |

it's a good thing that in order to touch it required such a long push didn't it? In Korea you get that valuable extra second or two to reconsider such an act.

that's what an "Islamic" interpretation says - that men cannot control themselves when presented with beautiful womanly things, so they must be hidden.
Logically, I'm sure you understand this is a ridiculous argument.
I'm also sure you understand the you can look at the menu but cannot touch argument (one used by most married guys about what they cannot get away with anymore)
personally I'm annoyed someone takes away my pleasure of looking by being unable to keep his hands to himself.
this line of thinking also leads to far more pernicious problem down the road

The reason it happens down there is probably because of all of the bikini and sex bars down in the SNU of Education area, and along that area of Line 2 in general.
As usual, it's blamed on the women.
What amazes me is they claim to have caught so many. HOW? If that figure is true, then knowing how the system works around here, can you imagine how many have gotten away? |
