So I quit my first job because I was placed into a fake marriage and recently started a new job. Since I've been at my new job, all the teachers are miserable and everybody wants to quit because of the manager there. I tried to avoid the negativity but soon it was my turn. My manager at my new job started to treat me like garbage, like she does with everybody else. If I would have known I was replacing someone who quit without notice, then I would have never taken the job. But now I'm here.
Does anybody know visa procedures? My first visa run was actually quite easy. I didn't need much, I didn't even need a letter of release. Do you think the best move is to leave and come back? If a person has had two korean visas does that affect them? |

If you don't have a letter of release and have worked at least 9 months of your visa, you can't get a new one. You have to wait until the current one expires. The number of previous visas won't affect you. This is assuming we are talking about E-2 visas. Every visa has it's own rules.

You've had 2 bad experiences and you still want to come back for more? I'd just go to another country. One bad experience was enough for me. Now I'm just waiting for my decent contract to expire... then I'm outta here! |

I concur x 10!
I had 5 years in China, 7 months in Korea. ROK for ESL work is nothing but a string of "bad marriages," as far as I'm concerned. |

hmm... my last job I didn't get a letter of release and didn't work there for nine months. I was there for only six months. I got a new job with no problems. Both my visas are and were E-2.
As for the fake marriage too long of a story. I came here and met someone who I would be living with and was told to pretend I was married to her. They gave me a two bedroom as promised, but with only one bed. They were desperate for a couple.
Anyway that aside, I'm trying to stay because I'm in school learning Korean. I need the funds to make a living here. I have no interests in becoming a teacher in the States.
I don't know if it matters how many times you get new visas. I didn't have to wait for my last to be expired, but I gave them the notice they needed. They did not provide a letter of release.
Maybe if I just leave and come back with all my documents I will be okay? Does anyone know? |
