|
|
I've been looking at some job postings, just for fun. One thing that
strikes me as odd is that overtime pay per hour is less than regular
time pay per hour in many cases. Overtime pay is like 18,000KRW
per hour whereas regular pay is about 20,000KRW.
Is this normal? Who would sign a contract like that? |

Very normal.
If your contract stipulates the possibility of optional overtime, it's not big deal. You can just refuse to do it (ideally). However, if you have mandatory overtime, you can try to negotiate the overtime rate to at least your normal wage.
I suppose the Korean idea of what overtime is differs from the Western understanding. |

When you buy in bulk, you tend to get a discount. Evidently, the people of Korea feel this should apply to your work hours. |
