I'll be in China for 9 days over Chuesok. Minus train expenses, is a 300,000KRW budget reasonable? I don't plan to be partying much as I would just stay in Korea to do that. Perhaps just mart type drinking if any. I don't shop either. My main concern in food, hostels, and entrance fees to anything. From what I've been told, the costs are about the same as they are in Korea.

That would be cutting it pretty close. It is about 200RMB per day, that means you have 200RMB for hotel, food and transportation. Plus entrance fees to Chinese historical sites are pretty high, back in 2008 it cost 80rmb to get into the Forbidden city and other tourist sites were similar in price.

still cost that much when I was there a couple of weeks ago. Temple of Heaven was about that too. I would count on a couple of days in Beijing where you can book train tickets in advance which is pretty much required as the train station is a gong show. Food is not too expensive and some of the interesting tours that the hostels promote are also not that expensive and well worth it. I would personally say about 100 000 Won a day should get you by ok.

how many rmb is 300000 won. if i remember correctly that is about 300 dollars and thats not even close to enough for a trip to china for 9 days. plan on spending 100 u.s a day for a good trip. hotels and hostels are going to be very expensive in shanghai for october because its last month of expo and chinese holiday.

Hotels alone were about 300 RMb a night. More downtown.

What about going online and finding a friend to take you around ? I did that and for 3 months had a friend/tour guide/lover. Happens alot in China.
