|
|
Right now, I am sitting at the Naver Free-Internet Cafe in Incheon Airport. I was sipping on coffee when i decided to check my boarding pass. My emergency-row exit seat was changed! I quickly jumped on the net to see why my seat was changed (the attendants aren't here yet) and I was bumped to business class!!!!
Dang, a 14-hour flight in business class!!!!! I'm stoked? Has it ever happened to you? |

how did you get the emergency row seat in the first place? did you pay extra money for it (because of the added leg room) or are you really tall? or did you just ask for it, or did they just suprise you
never been bumped but I will soon, I can feel it!
enjoy your flight, drink some champaigne |

I always purchase my tickets months in advance; I don't use travel agents. I go directly through the airline's website. When reserving, the tickets are much cheaper, and, you have the option, for free, to choose emergency row seats as long as someone else hasn't reserved it. Also, there is a field you can check off that says "apply for upgrade option". I always check it. This time, it worked!
Another way you can do it is that you can arrive at the gate early and ask, though, everyone knows to do this first.
Damn, I can't wait!!!!! 40 more minutes until i board. |

From Incheon to Portland I was back with the natives. My 6'5" self was suffering before they even closed the door. The white girl next to me FULLY lived up to and surpassing the fat American image. The controls for my overhead light were on the top of the armrest and smothered by her massive right chesticle. The light stayed the way it was set. I then noticed an attendant pointing rudely at me then motioning me to come to her. I crowled over the other shmucks and was then informed I was being given the Exit row. The tiny old grandma could not speak English or likely, keep from soiling herself. I almost kissed the attendant. |

I was upgraded on a Korean Air flight last August. It was hard to go back to economy on the flight back to Korea, but such is life. |

Yes, I have been bumped to business class and it's sweet! Two weeks ago I flew back to Korea, and even though it was economy class, I had the two seats next to me empty. I was able to stretch out and use 3 chairs like a bed, since I am tiny...I looked around and saw the envious looks of the people around me...Happened to me one other time, too on the way back to the states...But it doesn't happen much. They love to pack planes these days...MONEY! That's all folks care about. |

Not exactly "bumped", but since I have a family member in the business I was able to get business both ways when I went home in February, and man was it sweet. Not only that but the round trip was less than $300 US.
The downside is it's never guaranteed, and now I am spoiled, because you know how grueling a 14-hour trip in coach can be. |

Yep. NZ - SK (about 12 hours) on Asiana. Economy must have been full. Problem is I didn't want to drink at all because I had to meet my first boss at Incheon on arrival so I couldn't really make the most of it. 2 GIs near me who also looked like they'd been bumped were ordering drinks the entire flight. |

Yes. My first flight here was a terrible experience. The biatch from QANTAS wouldn't let me on the plane with a one way ticket "as I only had a tourist visa" even though I pointed to the E2 status, and period of sojourn one year, then as I'm about to do something I might regret later in life, this Korean bloke walks over and takes one look at my visa, walks over to the machine and puts a business class boarding card in my hand making the ignornant woman look like an idiot, and suddenly I loved Koreans. |

When I was flying Air Canada for my honeymoon, I told the stewardesses and was given a tiny bottle of wine that might have filled a teaspoon and a cake the size of a hockey puck and of the same hardness and taste. Same crappy seats, same bad food, same bad service!
I remember as a boy people telling me stories how they got on an airplane for a honeymoon trip, told the flight staff, and got bumped up and given other presents. Must have been when Shakespeare was still alive.

Nope, just me. I am here now and let me tell you that business class was sweet! Half a bottle of bubbly, a filet mignon, and a bunch of other stuff later, and I was out for 12 hours on a 180 degree lay-back. It was nice!!!!! |
