| It wasn't a visa run per se, as I was living/teaching in China at the time, but I have gotten an e2 processed there. There are other threads on this, look it up. |

'Garhowis' make sure that you either email or telephone the visa section of Korean consulate before leaving Korea. Get a visa officers name and number before leaving as this can save a lot of problems!!!!
I managed to obtain an E2 and a tourist visa for my wife on short notice. At the time(early 2007) we managed to obtain both within 8 days. It was gained with a little bit of difficulty. Namely through the diffiulty of the overly enthusiastic(Chinese) staff at the entrance of the institution concerned. Make sure that all of your paper work and other documents are in order though. Also make sure you get there early in the morning. At least 30-60 minutes before opening time as there are a lot of Chinese workers doing the same thing. Thus the long line up. Google, the opening times as these change from time to time on the official website.

| The one thing that surprised me at the korean consulate in Shanghai was the friendly helping attitude of the Korean staff there. Best I have ever encounted. |

take your visa number and drop off your passport, application form, one photo and 350RMB, pick it up 4 working days later.
i put mine in on thursday, pick it up the following wednesday.
can only drop it off mon-fri 9-12. can pick it up from 2-5 as well.
i showed up at about 11:00, was out 15 minutes later.
very friendly and helpful girls there.
things to keep in mind,
while the consulate has your passport you will have trouble checking into hotels and changing money, both of which require you to have your passport.
make sure you have a photocopy of your front page, of your visa page, and of the page where they stamp your passport on arrival. along with the receipt from the consulate.
with all these and some patience you can still change money and check into hotels.
they will say 'no', but persist, it can be done. |

| When you hand over your passport, they should give you a piece of paper which will indicate that they're holding it for processing. You can use this to check in at hotels if need be. |

Well comparing them to the ignorant ModEdits over in Fukuoka, there's nowhere to go but up.
