I am not sure if anyone will know about this, but I figured I might as well ask. I am currently on Prednisone, a steriod. I had an unfortunate encounter with some poison ivy while camping. I will be taking it for about another week. I will also be arriving in Korea at the end of August. Should I be worried about the drug test? |

I cannot comment on steroid testing in Korea but I recall that Prednisone may give a false positive on TB tests. I recall not being able to start a clinical rotation until I was done with the meds and the test was cleared. |

The steroid your are applying to your skin is a topical anti-inflammatory steroid. A totally separate beast from the Estrogen/Testosterone based steriods you are thinking of. I am almost positive that the drug test prior to employment in Korea does not even include any steroid testing. Most Koreans probably have no idea what testosterone based/performance enhancing compounds are. You are fine!!! The TB reference is interesting though!! |

Predinisone can be adminstered orally. I've not seen a topical version but that does not mean it's not out there. |

The Prednisone is taken orally. I am using Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream. I didn't bother mentioning it because I am just applying it to my skin. So I didn't think that it would even be an issue, but I could be being naive. |

OOOPS. I assumed it was topical because you said you were taking it for poison ivy. I believe regardless of the route of administration, it's still not a Testosterone based compound and you should be fine. If you were taking an estrogen based compound, I don't see what the problem would be anyway (other than if you were a male). |

Prednisone is a corticosteroid. The testosterone based body building steroids (which I'm assuming are what you're concerned about testing positive to, but could be wrong), are anabolic steroids.
They are different classes of drug and corticosteroids are widely used treatments for many conditions, one of the most common being asthma. For asthma, they are usually inhaled (budesonide and fluticasone being the most common), but are also given orally when a patient presents to an emergency room with an exacerbation (prednisone is used for this purpose).
Anyway, went a bit off topic, but assuming you're worried about testing positive to an anabolic steroid you should be fine. |

I currently take a topical version for inflammation of the eyelid.
You should usually be in the clear. |

It is also commonly used for treatment of chronic pulmonary obstruction diseases (like asthma). No worry about it on the test. they don't screen for it.
