Hey, all. I'm currently taking an online certification course before applying for a new job later in the fall and I'm pretty sure I'll need to get the certificate notarized or apostilled, right? Anyone know what the protocol is for getting that done? What do I need to do? I'm from the U.S., btw. Of course, I know I'll have to go to the embassy in Seoul, but what do I need to do when I'm there? Anyone ever gotten an online certificate stamped before? Thanks.

I don't think you need any notarization / apostille for your certificate.

All of the things you need an apostille for, diploma background check, are for immigration purposes - a requirement to get your visa.

Whether you're certified in TEFL or not doesn't matter to the government. It will make a difference to your employer however. So you should be able to show them, your employer, a copy of your cert or take the original with you in person.

It's a TEFL course. ITTT.

You sure? I just assumed that if you need diplomas and transcripts notarized that that rule applied to any kind of credentials you want to present. Gotta have it stamped so it's officially recognized. No?

go by what they tell you for certain, but I don't believe it's necessary usually.

I emailed my recruiter and she doesn't seem to think it's necessary either. Thanks for helping me settle that. Smile
