Well, lucky you! Some of us are pure gingers, and can't tan at all. I was on Jeju 5 days and I came back looking like a lobster. You chose your parents well. |

Accidentally fell asleep on the rooftop the other day while I was out there studying. Got a solid burn on my back and calves. |

So there is sunshine in Korea? I thought it might largely be one of those places where any day not coated in thick smog is counted as a blue sky day.
I notice that along with China and India it's a 'dark purple' Country on the World pollution chart. |

Lost any tan I had from a 2 week holiday in cyprus in June! For me, the few sunny days we've had in Busan have been weekdays, when I'm working!!!! Weekends have been largely Sh!te! Hence why I'm turning into Casper the Ghost... |

On a related note. Do Koreans tan? Or even like to 'sunbathe', when possible? I miss the sun, it doesn't visit England very often, especially in July and August (supposedly the height of summer). |

I always thought Asians like to be white as milk. They powder/paint their faces so white..... |

Yes, I'm almost as brown as a Sicilian, but then again I just got back from there. I was planning to go to Gangneung this weekend, but I guess I didn't realize that it actually rained all summer here. |

every chance I get. an hour or two easily suffices. There's a nice big park close to home where I can walk, disrobe and not be bothered.
but that just keeps me non pasty, except for very late fall and winter.
The good stuff comes during vacation time.
when I come back from this vacation, the same thing will happen when I came back from winter vacation.
the students will point at me and go... black... black.
which is quite a compliment for a northern European. |

I personally head to the rooftop of my apartment complex to catch some rays. Here is Busan, you might be lucky to catch a stretch of 1 hour with no massive cloud formations. It seems to be much more cloudy in Korea? |

What's the point of tanning?
It causes cancer, it ages the skin, it only lasts a few days, lots of people don't even think it looks good especially in Korea.
I'm all about covering up from the sun. When i'm 40 i'll look younger and better for it. |

more likely when you're 55 or so (though this depends your skin)
thing is by 55 you're going to look like [Mod Edit for swearing]
anyways.
So it really doesn't matter you see. You'll simply look slightly less [Mod Edit for swearing]
to me, a pale white person is a disgusting sight. Like pallid, pasty white.
Gross. Super gross if combined with overweight.
since most Westerners fall into the fat, pasty/pallid, white category, it's incumbent upon me not to "fit in",
ok?
plus, I feel I look much better tanned. To each their own.
p.s. I couldn't care less what Koreans think about it.. Actually I'm going to start a thread on that topic. |

Everyone needs a few minutes of sunshine a day to stay and look healthy, but enough is enough, imo.
I like the variety of complexions in humanity - from pale northern Europeans to the pitchest of black Africans. Artificial complexions, on the other hand, don't have that unstudied, natural beauty. Humans of all complexions generally look best within their own basic natural hue, imo.
