Does anybody have any suggestions for where i can buy a good rugged handheld GPS (maybe a garmin) suitable for creating GIS datasets (ie- with USB or similar download facility)?
Got a few ideas running around my mind about creating some hiking trail maps.
Also, anybody got experience in using a gps in china? Not sure about the legality of that one...... I don't particularly fancy having to face a firing squad as a convicted spy. Although there are times when that would be preferable to my current job.... |

I just got a Garmin Oregon 300 for mapping mountain bike trails. It's kick ass to say the least. The bad part in loading trails from the Net to the Unit. Very tricky to say the least.
Re: China, Maps for Asia suck in general reducing the ability to see 3D images. Regardless, it still makes waypoints that can be loaded to Google earth. |
