Folks, in an attempt to encourage more civility on this forum, I introduce the Official Bashing Thread. Here is the proper place to let that poster have it when he cannot see just what an assclown s/he is being.

The idea is to keep other threads running fairly smoothly and not mucked up with the petty flame wars we have seen all too often.

If you really want to lay into someone, refer them to the OBT. There you can let it rip. Mods, I say we let anything go on this thread only. What do you think? Can it work?

I have zero tolerance for zero-tolerance policies, and asking people to refrain completely from bashing may be a bit much. I mean, we're all human (well, most of us, anyway but even space aliens need to vent once in a while), and we all have our moments, right? So I present to you this safety valve.

Casper, I don't know you well... How long have you been around?
I've been around since 2006. I find conspiracy threads annoying.
It involves discussing things that happened way before I was born, and it's not current. They are as current as vinyls:) They are simplement horrible!

I've been around here since late 2006. I remember the day JFK got assassinated. If you are that young, it is especially important to investigate these assassinations if you want to be able to understand how we got to where we are today, and more. You must study history even before that. I find too many young people today just accept things without question. Of course, in my generation we were out in the streets protesting all kinds of things to make the world a better place.

I don't know you all that well, and I find many of your news posts annoying. I don't mind if you post a news item but at least add a comment of your own to get a discussion started. There are a million other places I can go to read news.

Folks, hell just froze over.

ba finally wrote something I can agree with. The assassinations are immensely important. Unfortunately, studying them through the lens of a conspiracy theory distracts people from understanding the importance of those events.

If that is the way you feel, simply turn on the nightly news or buy a history book and you will get the version you desire.

Bacasper, brought up an interesting point that stuff from the past connects to the present, but you can argue Napoleon connects to France's present and so does William Lyon Mckenzie for Canada, and we can discuss Roosevelt and all, but it is a stretch to say they are Current Events, so members could object on that premise. Mind you? Off-Topic people may not be able to.

As far as the nightly news, I don't see them talking about Kennedy often at all, and it is not 1961 for them to do so, and my TV isn't black-and-white. So I still need a more convincing argument how it relates to being current event material. And if you mention a history book, we are dealing with the past, are we not? That's history, not the present. As far as finding my news posts annoying, Cyprus is current, everything I post is current. You say people are ignorant about history, but history is not current. It is off-topic. If you find my posts annoying, they still fit the Current criterion. I am just saying for you to convincingly argue the case that it is something present. Kennedy was shot before the majority of us were even born. Rock and roll was barely around. It's history.

It is too bad we cannot agree on a definition of "conspiracy theory." As long as you refuse to use standard dictionary definitions, you are just talking past me.

Okay, I am friggin' like tired (Dr. Evil speaking) of the conspiracy theories by Regicide. The only conspiracy theories are those hatched by Dr. Evil.

Don't mess with my mojo and Minnie Me! Or, you will be history with the Kennedy assassination..... LOL

Casper, isn't that the name of some ghost or somethin'?

Anyway, why is the word ass*ole a swear word and sphincter? I mean we have to take a crap just as many posters are doing on each other...J/K
