Hi everyone,
I've recently completed two interviews with Gerstungkinder in Mokdong and am currently in the process of receiving a contract. I was provided with a website and pictures and was told one of the three native teachers from the school would contact me.
However, I have had little luck in finding anything else out about this particular school or much information about Mokdong aside from a few google searches and brief posts on here. Anyone have any experience with this school or Mokdong? I'd appreciate any firsthand information about either really as I haven't really been able to get much other than from the school itself and websites.
Thanks. |

Mokdong is a great area.
The neighborhood is wealthy:
....so there's lots of western food restaurants. Cinema's, gyms, department stores etc. There are nice small parks too. The accomodation is more likely to be better than in other areas, because it's full of relatively new Officetels. Me personally, i prefer Officetels to Villas or Apartments. If you don't know what an 'officetel' is, then look it up cos there's plenty of info on this site and other sites.
It's a great location within Seoul:
...it's close to Hongdae/Sinchon for nightlife (only 5km distance!)
...10km from City Hall and Itaewon
...15km from Gangnam
The transport links are very good with good bus service, and good subway connections. It's on the West side of Seoul, so doesn't take too long to get there from Incheon Airport. It's very close to Gimpo airport too. Even the Seoul immigration office is located in Mokdong so you wont have far to go to process your ARC (alien registration card).
Have a look around the streets with Daum's road view (equivalent of Google StreetView)

Have a look at Wikimapia's info on Mokdong area...

As for your school, i can't help you cos i never heard of it. |

I agree - Mokdong is a great area. You are not far from the center of Seoul and there is a lot of stuff (shops, food, etc) around there. Sorry - don't have any information about the school. |

Thanks everyone! I was a little worried about being in a big city, but the idea's growing on me. Also, I had a teacher from the school contact me, so hopefully I can find out more information about the school itself through her. |

One bit of advice: Ask her how long she's worked there and why the person you're replacing is leaving.
Many times, they will have someone who has been there for a week or two to answer your questions because people who have been there longer have more complaints. |

That is a fairly new school. It has only been open for a few years I think. It is in a really rich area of Mokdong. I have heard from a few mother's that sent their kids there, that the school has a lot of resources and looks very good. They didn't comment on the teachers, and I am sure they have no idea about the teacher's situations. |
