I am currently teaching in Kimje-si, Chollabuk-do province. A small city which is crime-free and very quiet city.
Any suggestions on where to shop, where to play inexpensive golf and find other English speakers who could be my travel buddy? |

Golf is horribly expensive in Korea. If you can find a golf 'cage' i.e. a driving range or a digital practice room, that's just about affordable. Real courses are up in the mountains and are private country clubs. If they let you play, it's very expensive and you have to hire a caddy (also very expensive, but usually they are cute university girls and knows jack about golf). |

Iksan, about 20 minutes away, has an indoor virtual golf range, and a sizable group of foreigners. You could probably find some people to travel with there. The two guys from Gimje just finished their contract, so there will probably be some new people replacing them soon who may or may not be cool.
Check Iksan out tomorrow if you're bored, there is a band playing at the main foreign bar near the university.
From the Iksan bus station hop a taxi and say:
"신동 다사랑 이요"
"Shin Dong Da sa rang E Yo"
It's a chicken place, the bar is a little up the road on the second floor and it's called Red Rock. Band starts at 11. |
