|
|
I am leaving for Korea next week. To save space, I plan on putting some dvd's and xbox 360 games in a cd binder. Do I need the cases to go with them due to customs? Don't know if they see the binder with movies and games and think they are pirated. I'd rather not dedicate luggage space to dvd cases when they can just go into a cd binder.
Weird question I know. Better safe than sorry. |

They sell many mainstream movies in Yongsan Electronics market for cheap. 4 movies for 10,000 won (like 10 dollars. USD) Instead of bringing physical movies get a software program that can convert your dvds to avi. Like IMTOO dvd program. And only convert foreign and independent movies because you can find the mainstream stuff here at Yongsan or the internet.
Don't bring too many movies anyways try to go out. Like www.meetup.com

Korean customs won't care.
Bring them if you want but bringing movies here is like taking a sandwich to a banquet since movies are cheap to buy or even cheaper to download. |

Dear Mom,
Well, I've finally settled down in Korea. It's nothing like we thought it would be. They actually have floors, not just dirt! And electricity in all the houses~! I was afraid I would have to get a generator to power my laptop.
And the best part, indoor plumbing!!!! It's the weirdest thing. Someone stole my toilet, there's just a hole in my bathroom where it's supposed to be.....
Your loving son,
Tumuchtv

Do not worry about customs. I would worry about being able to watch you DVDs. Remember there is region coding. So one DVD you watch in the US can not be watched in the UK. Now some computers allow you to switch regions but after so many you get stuck on one region.
Also those people saying that movies are cheap. Well they are but the 4 for 10,000 (10 dollars roughly) are pirated - refuse to buy. Thru I will download. And downloading in Korea is awsome and usually safe and very fast. |

I brought almost 25lbs of TV-on-DVD (half my collection - four cases, about 500 DVDs) and no one cared.
I wouldn't bother bringing many (recent) movies - they're cheap here and there may be places you can rent movies for cheap, too. You can't find old movies here or TV on DVD, so I'm glad I brought what I brought. It'll more than last me the year. |
