Now wait a minute, does this movie have any applicable evidence to actual life in the city or is this simply creative fiction that just happens to use Mokpo as a backdrop?

It's a fair question for anyone heading to the city to teach.

That film was made about a time back in the day when Mokpo was a little rough. These days it's a very pedestrian place, and the only gangsters that you're going to come across are ones armed with Bibles trying to save you from the evils of not following Christ.

I wouldn't give it a second thought about Mokpo not being safe.

When you see a bunch of Koreans heading towards you in a dark alley, the worst that's gonna happen is they're gonna say hi or hello and very possibly laugh when you reply.

A friend of mine who went there said that they operate some PC bangs. If you go to one that's on the first floor and they say "no." or "closed" or "upseoyo" and there's people in there on the computers, that's a mob den.

If you encounter one you can either walk away, join in the fun (illegal gambling), or slaughter them all Punisher-style. This is Chollanamdo, not Seoul. The rules are a little bit loose here.

Never trust a Cholla saram.
That's what people from other provinces say.
Funnily enough you'll find on the news a lot of dirt gets washed up in Chonam and Chonbuk.

So then where is the gangsta place in Korea dogg? Where da G's be at up in dis piece mudda facka?

The Kyungsung area of Busan had a lot of guys with tatted up necks and all black clothes walking around a lot. I would imagine that Itaewon would have some gangsta activity too.
