There is one! I knit, but alas I do not live in Seoul. Although I come to Seoul a lot.

The most avid knitter I know is currently abroad, but you should go to one of her meets when she comes back.

There's a Seoul Stitch N Bitch but I've never been. bit shy! If you google the name, you'll find the group.

I dunno if anyone's up for it, but I've got a tonne of yarn that I don't think I'll use...so maybe they do a yarn swap??

Hopefully I will be in or around Seoul here in the next month or so, still sorting through the jobs!

I knit and embroider and would like to learn to crochet. I'd be down for a meet up in Seoul!

I'm guessing it's not too hard to find knitting supplies and such in Seoul? I was debating on bringing some needles and such, but I really don't have the luxury of weight and space in my suitcases.

I crochet at a very beginning level and I brought 4 needles with me. I'd like to learn to knit as well. Anybody know of a class?

I've been trying to figure out where I could buy yarn/wool. I'm in Ilsan. Does anyone know if I'll have to go to Seoul to get yarn?

Dongdaemun has a HUGE 8 story building that sells all kinds of fabrics, furnishing and the basement is entirely of stalls that sell yarn.

I can't remember the exit but it's the Dongdaemun Station you want, not Dongdaemun Stadium.

Yes, the knitting supply store is at Dongdaemun station, not Dongdaemun stadium. The building is right next to Cheonggyecheon.

They sell nearly everything. In my experience, the only thing that is difficult to find are affordable straight knitting needles (all the ones they have are round knitting needles and they are dirt cheap, but the straight ones are tres expendieux!)

Oh, and if anyone wants to learn how to crochet / knit, I recommend checking out the stitch n bitch books (happy hooker for crocheting) and videos online.

To get to the fabric building near Dongdaemun Station use exit 8 or 9. You can't miss it.

if you want quality yarn, i think 10 thou won per skien sounds right (for korea, much more expensive in the states). it's the cheaper yarns like acrylic that are about a dollar or so. you can find a huge variety of yarns in d-mun. The woman at stall B234 sells balls of wool&cotton yarn for 1,000 won, and i think A100 sells a monster pound of yarn for 12,000. Knitting needles are a nice price in d-mun too. Metal knitpicks needles are 5,000 won. Whenever i buy yarn from a vendor, s/he always gives me the bamboo circular needles free (called "service" in korea). if you are a knitter, or crafty person of any kind, it is a dream to live in seoul. B1 of d-mun is yarn heaven. if you like beading, you could spend the day on teh 5th floor and still not have seen it all.
