Anybody know where to one can get champagne at a decent price in Korea/Seoul? I've seen it is some department stores but at around 50000원 for a small bottle No thanks.
Costco used to have some in January but alas it is no longer there .
Any Help?

Costco has their house brand and Moet Chandon. I saw it earlier today. They also have sparkling wines from the US, Italy and cava from Spain. You won`t get real Champagne from France cheaply here... |

Used to live with a guy who bought the expensive stuff and when rent came around he said he couldn't afford it. He also went to my landlord (contract was in my name with my deposit) and said he would pay him late for the month and from then now on pay him the money instead of to me and then I pay the landlord. |

Ilsan Costco has Moet at about 50k a regular sized bottle.
This price seems pretty fair to me. Other Costcos may have it too. I think I've seen it in a department store for about 90k or so but I wasn't tempted at that markup.
I don't recall seeing Krug or Dom Perignon or Cristal or Veuve Cliquot anywhere. Maybe in a classy liquor shop. Probably pay about 5x market price though. In terms of taste vs value IN Korea it seems Moet is the best you're gonna get. Disappointing, but it's one of the hardships of living abroad.
Try 50 bottles of soju instead of 1 bottle of Moet. It might make you feel better. Or kill you.
If we were in Europe I'd recommend a bottle of Cava or something.. but we're not.. and I've not seen it priced here at anything reasonable, so I won't.
Moet at 50k is the way to go. |

There's a Wine House near Cine City in Apkujong which has a really good range of champagne starting from around 60,000.
I think Moet was around 70k last time I went. |

In Seoul you can get Champagne in many places.
About the cheapest you will see Moet is the 50k mark. EMart have had a couple of sales on sparkling wine recently and it was around that price. Lanson Black Label can be picked up at a similar price to Moets normal price, about 70K.
There are loads of premium Champagnes available as well and as you go up in quality you get better value. EMart sell Dom Perignon and Pol Roger(Non vintage and vintage) at prices comparable to the UK(before the discounting that goes on there). Specialist wine shops tend to have a good selection ranging from your Moets and Lansons to Cristal and Krug. All department stores will have a reasonable selection.
You get better value with Champagne that pretty much any other premium wine here. |

I've seen 750ml bottles of Cooks (~9000 won) at both the Busan and Daegu Costcos. They also have a much more expensive version, but we're fine drinking the Cooks. |

Unless you know they like champagne, I would try to think of something else. a big generalisation but koreans don't really get in to wines and champagnes unless they are sweet and I'm talking juice concentrate sweet |

I really like Laurent-perrier Brut, and had it quite a few times back in the States. I have searched all over for it in Korea but haven't found it yet. I saw a bottle of it in Taiwan at the supermarket in the basement of Taipei 101 and was really tempted to buy it, but it was pretty expensive. |
