Is it impossible to maintain a valid driver's license from one's native country while living in Korea (when you can't return home in the year before your license expires)? I was home recently and tried renew my driver's license, but they said it was impossible because it was still valid for more than a year (fourteen months). So I asked "Well, what if I were to 'lose' it?" To which the lady at the motor vehicle office replied that they could only issue another license with the same expiry date as the one I had lost, and I would still have to return to their office in person when there was less than a year left on my license. She also informed me that it wouldn't help me at all if I were to get an international license in Korea.
Any ideas? |

I renewed my license online in the USA for $16. Very hassle free. Mailed the new one to my parents and they mailed it to Korea. |
