I have 2 hard Drives for sale:
Seagate 7200RPM SATA 320GB
ST3320620AS
35,000w
Seagate 7200RPM SATA 250GB
ST3250823AS
25,000w
OR
Take them both for 50,000w. The hard drives are still under warranty. Seagate has a great 5 year warranty on their Hard Drives. I'm using the drives right now as I type. I know there is definitely a good 2-3 years left on the warranty. When I pull the drives out, I can check the serial numbers on Seagates website and get an exact date.
Neither drive has given me any problems. If you are paranoid about buying a used HD, then just RMA while the warranty is till good and Seagate will send you certified replacements.
External enclosures can be bought and you can turn these things into external hard drives very easily.
Reason for Sale:
I need more storage so I want to buy a 1TB hard drive. |

Hi
I'm interested in the drives, BUT
not only am I technologically challenged, but I live way out in a rural area...
this means lots of downloading things to watch of course
I don't know if I can get the necessary stuff here to change the drives into external hard drives: what would I need, and any idea how much it would cost? |

You buy an external enclosure. You plug hard drive into external enclosure.
Congratulations, you have an external hard drive.
Make sure you buy the right enclosure. You should look at 2 things:
Size of the encolsure (is it for desktop or laptop hard drives?)
Connection (is it for SATA or IDE hard drives) |

Yes, you can get the drives replaced in Korea.
You fill out an online RMA request on Seagate's website. They give you an RMA number, and an address in Korea (I believe its in Gyeonggi-do) for you to mail the defective drive. 3-5 business days later you have your replacement Seagate drive in your mail.
I did twice, once with my 500GB drive, and once with my 100GB laptop drive. |

Off topic. How do you send the defective HDD to the manufacture? Does it have to be in special package or just wrap it with newspaper? |

The Drives have been sold.
Dazzed:
I just take it to the post office and they wrap it a couple times in bubble wrap. The manufacturers say you need to put them in anti-static bags. I've never returned a drive in an anti-static bag and I've always gotten my RMA processed. The drive is already broken, whats the point?
I fill out an Online RMA request (its the same for all manufacturers, except Samsung. With Samsung I just take the defective drive to any Samsung A/S center and they replace it on the spot.). I print out the approved RMA form. I put the defective hard drive in a box (with or without bubblewrap).
I write the address and the RMA number on the box. I mail it off. Wait 5-8 business days and a new hard drive is mailed out to me.
Simple as that. |
