Ditto..... would want to be a hell of a paycheck. Topia is a franchise with branches everywhere so I would imagine that there would be a variation in conditions etc between different branches.
But 50 lessons wow, I used to do 35 in a hagwon and that was pretty tough. |

Yeah it's a franchise and though I'm sure someone has a good experience somewhere, I've only heard bad things about them.
The primary complaint oddly, is too much workload and stress.
At least they're being upfront about the hours, but I would definitely pass. |

sorry for the miscommunication on my part. Its 36 class hours and 14 office hours. nevertheless it is 50 hours of work inside the hagwon.
but yes the pay check amount is quite steep. |

Makes a big difference although the working week is still long. 36 classes is still a lot, but manageable. You probaly dont want to reveal the pay here but interesting all the same. Maybe a thread on here somewhere. |

I worked at the one in Daechi-dong a couple of years ago. I had a really wonderful time and I am still close with the director. Got paid on time, housing was nice, co-workers were awesome, students were bright and eager to learn. I worked Mon-Fri 2:30-10:30 and Sat 1-7. I had 8 weeks of vacation.
Keep in mind this was in 2006 and A LOT has changed. I also don't know too much about the new contracts/classes. |

Definately one of the crappier hagwons with books that are too advanced for the students with an expectation to finish-e the book quickly ensuring no student learns squat.
Some give NHI, some do not. I've never known anyone to re-sign at either of the two TOPIAs in my area. They are a revolving door for newbies.
Of course, each TOPIA will be different, depending on the director(s). I'd find something with more reasonable hours. |

Thanks for all the input. The biggest thing that bothers me is working saturdays... and yes it is around that area of pay (stated by linky) give or take 200000won.
Im feeling that its not worth it. |

Unless you negotiate to be paid by the hours. Ask for 40000 KRW per hour. If they decide to work you to death, at least you are getting paid. |

A hagwon that doesn't provide the legally mandated benefits (National Health Insurance and Pension) and expects you to work Saturdays is at the bottom of the barrel. I'd recommend looking elsewhere. |
