I am having zero luck finding a hotel to stay in Fukuoka this weekend. Everything is booked up. Is there something I don't know about? So frustrating... |

I usually stay at a hotel not far from the Korean consulate (assuming you're there on a visa run).
From the consulate walk away from the Dome a couple of blocks to the street where the subway stops are. Turn left and it's on the right not far down. |

usually its best to book the hotel with the airplane ticket (together, throught the travel agent)
it will ensure you will get a hotel and usually at a discounted price...
if you were too stupid then do a google search. |

If you want to get ripped off. The site I bought the tickets through was only showing hotels at about 3x-4x the price I ended up paying through another website.

It's called Yamamoto Ryokan and it's perfect. You go to Gion Machi subway station and exit exit no. 2.
There will be a miniature shrine right there. Next to the shrine is a little alleyway wide enough for two cars. Not very narrow but an alleyway all the same.
Walk down the alleyway away from the boulevard that the subway runs under. When the alleyway meets a T in the road, that is Yamamoto Ryokan. If you walk more than 2 minutes you've done something wrong.
Rooms are tatami style. It's 4000 for one person, 6800 for two.
The baths are communal and they are great!
Very clean, very nice owner.
Look for the Chinese characters 山本旅馆 on this 2 story building. If you can't find it, ask someone in the neighborhood to point the way for you.
We were there 3 weeks ago and the place was empty. |

I've been looking at asiarooms.com, hostelworld and other miscellaneous websites. On a lark, i even looked at expensive hotels like the hyatt and they're booked solid. i've been before and it wasn't a problem like it is now. |

Oh thanks. I'm noticing on Saturday night at all of the places I've seen have all been full. I was just noticing it looks like something's happening in Fukuoka is all. |

Book fast.
I stayed at "The B" last time. nice place, decent breakfast, good location (about 5 minutes from Hakata station) , but its booked up. It runs around 5500 usually (more on saturdays). Site is fine to book with, didn't have any trouble with my reservation. |
