hi there,
i was just told that i was deferred from my job with SMOE (even though i have a ticket and visa to fly out tomorrow). i'm wondering if it is possible to use the visa to fly to korea and find a job once there? couldn't seem to find any info about it. i'm not sure i'd be able to get my airfare reimbursed i suppose though...
thanks so much. this forum has been most helpful. |

| Be very careful. Your E-2 VISA may most likely have limits on where you can use it. About reimbursement~ be very careful, I'm not certain if that is possible or not. Others who are more knowledgeable may want to chime in on this. |

| you're not the only one. I had to cancel my flight because SMOE said that if I arrived after Monday I'd have to wait until March. Doesn't matter that the NOA didn't arrive until the beginning of this week. |

I wouldn't try it. Schools are supposed to cancel your visa after you are not working for them. Since this is SMOE - a public school system - and in the capital - I'd have to figure they will probably cancel the visa. You could get stuck at immigration. Maybe not. Maybe so. It's a question of whether you'd want to risk it.
I'd say stay at home and contact the consulate about getting the visa canceled if it isn't already then start looking for other jobs if you still want to go over. |
