I always hear that wealthy people live in Ilsan and Bundang. Bucheon seems to be that way these days.
Bucheon new town area seems to have no end of expensive family restaurants, and no shortage of customers either. Everyone seems to be throwing around their money.
I saw a lot of young couples in their 30s with 2 kids, dressing them in designer clothes. I wonder if they're rich, stupid, just showing off, or a little from columns a, b, and c. My wife does a lot of comparison shopping, and she saw a stroller worth 1.5 million and a kid with a polo shirt that goes for 150,000.
The new apartments 'Doosan We've' are luxury apartments, where 1 home is 2 floors, and about the size of a western home without a yard. They go for nearly 1,000,000,000 (around $800,000 US).
More and more of these luxury brand things are popping up, like a bakery where an apple turnover is 3000 won and a donut is over 3,000. Also, no shortage of customers.
As Cheonmunka once said, 'Korea is a poor country with rich people.' Seems he is right. |

So they're naming apartments after sentence fragments now. |

Good for them... sounds like some reversal "I envy you" going on here! with an ill-willed undertone |

Just a social commentary. You read too much into things. |

Been that way for a while. Four years ago, all my Kindie kids had obnoxiously rich parents. It's a commuter town, the section sprouting up from City Hall onwards very new and expensive. There are some slummy areas though. I liked Bucheon. Nothing much to do there except for the film festival, but convenient and comfortable. |

There used to be a Quiznos in Bucheon near Songnae Station, shut down maybe 3 years ago, had really friendly staff. It was replaced by some octopus restaurant I think. |

I was on a one man mission to keep that place open...
I failed, sadly. There was never anyone else in there when I would go. Maybe a goo-goo eyed couple feeding each other torn off pieces of pizza, but no one was there enjoying those tasty toasted subs. |
