Hey... wondering if someone can point me to any websites/resources or can give some advice on how to teach the differences between 'which', 'that' and 'whose'.... I've tried to dig around a bit but have been unsuccessful to date.

Eg, The dog that ate the bone was my friend's. The friend whose dog ate the bone, was a girl. etc....

Generally, I know and use the correct rules myself.... but how to teach them to non-english speakers??? This is the first time I've really been stumped. Help anyone?

The 1st example is a subjective clause, the second is an example of an objective clause.

If you put subjective/objective clauses into a search engine you should find some information. If you can't, pm me and I'll explain but the explanation is quite long. Smile

Cheers for that... the problem is however that the english ability of the student is not so good... He's 15, at middle-school and he's not even sure what a clause is... so it makes it lot tougher to define these concepts and explain them.... I'm looking for any kind of techniques or even games (if it helps) to help get the message across. Still, thanks for the effort....

This is a great site on relative clauses, and a bit of other grammar, for my money.
