Pretty sure there are pro-eugenics messages in the movie, actually, put there by David Rockefeller and the Trilateral Comission. I don't really have any proof of this, but I have no proof it isn't true, so really it's pretty much fact. |

Every movie is political, whether pro- or anti-Establishment.
Avatar has tons of themes and imagery with cultural resonance, hell, it'll even be called an anti-American film since it's made by a Canadian and portrays the human (read: U.S.) military as the bad guys even though they profess to "fight terror" ("fight terror with terror" being a direct quote).
Blah blah blah blah.
As a work of art, the filmmaking is incredible. (Though it does have a Star Wars meet Jurassic Park feel to it that makes it seem a bit derivative and reflective of the times rather than original, groundbreaking or of lasting value.
The video game could be a lot of fun to play. |

It felt like a science fantasy version of "Dances with Wolves." |

There aren't any hidden messages. The messages are all pretty obvious. If Cameron wants to help the environment, he should direct Kabuki. |

Colored people with tribal markings and jewelry are saved by a white man.
There's your message. |

Indeed. Avatar was about as subtle as a Tsunami.
Not big on plot, that James Cameron.
See: Alien (Ridley Scott's masterpiece) to Aliens (wtf did you do, Cameron?!) transition. |

I heard the "cool" argument in defense of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, as well.
Didn't stop both movies from being excrement. |

Avatar doesn't have the most interesting story but it's still far better than those two. The ice cream truck jive-talkin' autobots in Transformers II were a disgrace, not to mention Jar-jar Binks (shudder). |

Another distinctively Vedic feature of "Avatar" (what to speak of the title) is the ritual of saying a prayer directly to the animal that one is about to kill. And - as in Vedic culture - the killing of animals, plants, and trees by the Navi is done only when really necessary.
Most of the comments (by critics) regarding race lack the philosophical perspective that comes with understanding the Vedic concepts of transmigration of souls and spiritual evolution.
The main character's spirit-soul transmigrated to a more civilized human form more in tune with laws of Nature (ultimately controlled by the Supreme Person.) Moreover, Nature personified is characterized as being impartial - She doesn't take sides in human conflicts. |
