I was just paid for a three week temporary job with those Korean cheques. How can you use them? Are they just like cash or do you need to show your ARC before they will accept it?

They are like cash but you also need to show your ARC. It's routine.. nothin to worry about.

I find those checks/cheques to be a pain in the ass. My bank machine only accepts certain ones, so I have to hang on to the others and use them at different stores, often causing the cashier to huff and puff because I'm taking all her small bills.

If they are not accepted everywhere, then they're not as good as cash. Period, the end.

When I got a few before, I used them to pay rent.

I used one at E-Mart so some stores, maybe just the bigger ones, don't require you to show your ARC. Which is good since I don't have mine yet.

Wow, it's funny you mention it. I have been here almost 2 years and just last week I was given a check for the first time. It's always cash or direct deposit here. Anyway, I just deposited it into my account with no problem.

I've never had to show my arc. I just sign the back and the person takes them.

Obviously, if you go to a small convenience store and use one to buy a pack of gum, the people are going to complain about it. Have you ever tried using a $100 bill at a 7-11 in the US? They have signs on the door that say they only have $50 worth of change in the cash register at all times.

Just take the check to a bank and they'll cash it. Go to a big retailer like eMart and use it there.

As someone mentioned earlier, some bank machines won't take them, especially on the weekend. It sucks if you get paid for something and have to wait.

Also, they don't accept them internationally. I got refused in Kansai Airport.
