Anyone able to offer any insight or advice for getting an electric guitar from here in Seoul back to the US?!

I'm pretty sure that the PO only accepts it's own boxes which my instrument obviously won't fit in to. Does this mean I'll need to use a private carrier? If so, who/where/what!?

I don't have a hard case (scary, I know) but figure that if I pack up a box well enough it should hold as the guitar was sent to me originally anyways, via the USPS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated or, if you're interested in a Fender Telecaster Thinline, 1972 Classic Series Reissue, then shoot me an e-mail at [email protected] I don't have to send it home!

Thanks!

I bought an Ibanez RG3620Z in busan, last summer and I took it on the flight with me, well in the baggage hold, I was a bit nervous as i paid alot for it, an especially as i was transferring flights in dubai, but it arrived in london without a scratch. That's if you are are going home anyway..
And since you don't have a hard case, I'm not sure what you can use, just put alot of bubble wrap around it, and i mean ALOT.

Either take it on the flight with you, get a hard case, pack it REALLY well in a cardboard box, or insure it like crazy...

Also, you can use FedEx in Korea. They're pretty reliable.

Thanks for the replies though I'm not headed home, or, anywhere close for that matter so it's certainly not getting on a plane with me.

If I go via FedEx, does anyone have any idea how much that'd cost? Or, perhaps more importantly, where I'd go about finding a guitar sized box to stuff it in!?

I'm guessing I could get bubble wrap at a FedEx store though for a premium. Any suggestions on where else?!

Again, any advice is very much appreciated!

Thanks!

if your guitar is in a hardcase, shouldn't be too much to worry about. get it boxed up at the airport and check it as oversized check-in.

I just brought my classical gutiar back from the US. I took it in cabin on 3 flights and no one batted an eye. I would try that first.
