So I was going over the application for an E-2 visa when I noticed that 'countries' is spelled 'countris.' How silly is that?

Actually, this thread was just an excuse for me to let the world know that I finally got my visa number and can now schedule an interview with the Korean consulate.

From what I gather the English on documents in Korea doesn't mean crap. It's 우리말 that holds sway over these lands my friend.

You could write your visa application form with a snickers bar in Korea and they'd still accept it lol.. I kind of love the casualness here.

Contrast that with my experience trying to get a replacmeent passport at the British Consulate in Seoul last week..

First time they turend my appplication down because the first letter of my signiature went a millimetre outside of the box! Lol...

Second time they didn't like the way I write my capital 'G's' and the photo was a millimetre too small in width and breadth lol...

That document is like a century old. And that isn't the only typo on it either.

The other day took my kids out and there is some English camp thing, in Busan actually, with 'Soports' classes and even a 'Mothers Revwie' class.

But hey, it's like me in Korean, I don't bother checking a dictionary so it's real easy to get things muddled, 세계-새계, 글씨-굴씨, 데-돼, those sort of things which glare out to the native.

The form that still bugs me is the one you have to fill out at the post office when you mail a package. No matter where you live in the country, on the return address it ends with Seoul, Korea. I always cross the Seoul out.
