A friend of mine is coming to Korea to teach. She's from Arizona and is having problems getting a criminal background check for her visa but the state gov is telling her in Arizona it's illegal to give a background check for the purposes of obtaining a foreign visa so they will issue her a paper stating that. The woman told her no one she has given that paper to has had any problems obtaining a visa with it. She also has a fingerprint clearance that says she has no criminal record and is ok to work with kids but this is a card, not a piece of paper.
She's tried calling Immigration and the Korean Consulate but they don't know about it.
Is there anyone from Arizona who has experience with this? She can't post on daves because her account hasn't been verified yet so I'm doing this for her. |

Without completely repeating my prior post on the topic (which you can read here: http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?p=2140780#2140780 ), we Arizonans need to do the FBI check because Arizona doesn't do state background checks, and local checks are no longer accepted by immigration. |
