I'm not a techno-head but I just need a good laptop for internet surfing, word processing..... the usual everyday stuff.

Must be fully functional and working perfectly.

Must be less than 4 years old.

Not too expensive.

I came across this used laptop at korea 4 home classifieds. It's an HP Compaq Presario V3000. it has a 1.8ghz single core, 14" screen, 512mb of ram, and a 40gb hard drive. it appears to have windows xp and some other programs installed.

most importantly the price is 225,000won. perhaps you can haggle him/her down a bit. who knows.

the laptop model is 3 years old i think. check out this review on cnet.

ask the seller what type of ram it takes, or just look on a help forum online how to check yourself. you can upgrade the ram easily by buying some more on gmarket (or yongsan if you're in seoul). however with winXP, 512mb is fine for web surfing and word processing.

another thing you should ask the seller is about the battery life. most laptops' batteries die after a few years. the laptop i'm using as i type is 3 or 4 years old and the battery has been dead for a year now. ask the seller how long (minutes/hours) does the laptop run without being plugged in.

good luck to you. i'll keep my eyes open for some more cheap laptops.
