|
|
I'm outta here tomorrow and have about 25 kilos of change I've collected from various purses and drawers while packing.
What is the code for cashing in change in Korea? Can I just take it to my bank as is and cash it in? What do you guys do with all this crapwon coinage?
Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but if I showed up to a bank back home with a jar of assorted change the teller would laugh his/her ass off. It has to be meticulously rolled, which is annoying. Plus the jar is really, really heavy, so I figured I'd ask here before lugging it forever in the swampy heat to the bank in town.
Thanks![/list] |

Hi,
I live out in the sticks and use Nonghyup bank. My local branch insists I divide my coins into baek and oh-baek won before they accept them. The bank in the next town has a big machine they jut pour the jar into, and it sorts the coins automatically.
I guess it depends on your local bank. |

Ugh, I was afraid of that. So they won't bother with the 50's and 10's then? Anyway, that's good to know, I might as well sort it before I head out then. Thanks. |

My bank has a counting machine that you just dump all your unsorted loose change in. After my first two years here I had a little over 400'000원 in change. It took the machine about a half hour to go through it since it jammed occasionally and you couldn't dump it all in at once. |

A couple times a year my mom gives me a sack of change she's collected to take to a certain bank in town that has the sorting machine too. Guess you'll have to find which bank near you will do that. |
