After rushing to get to work the same day that I flew in from New York (last Monday) I was told to stay away from the school till next Monday because of flu fears - so I took the KTX to Busan for another vacation near a beach...
If it really gets bad, many people might balk at attending film festivals - or any crowded enclosed places where a flu carrier might sneeze ... |

| Somebody on the 15th floor of the DLI 63 Building on Yoido has swine flu. This fact was revealed in various ways, including a hand-made (but official-looking) sign pasted by an elevator, from the lobby information girls, and overheard conversations in the elevator. And finally, it is alleged (I didn't hear it myself), over the building's own PA system. I'll be taking the even-numbered elevators from now on. By God. |

| I have a feeling the closures may be higher than just 4 high schools. My school was evacuated on Thursday afternoon (really...they made an announcement for everyone to stop what they are doing and leave the school immediately), and when I walked down to HOMEPLUS after I met a teacher from the other high school that has also been closed for the week due to the flu. As mentioned in the article I imagine it will start to snowball this week with openings and cases being diagnosed. |

These are schools that have already started classes and had students show up with H1N1. Wait until other schools start classes. The list will grow. |

Maybe they are trying to keep things "hush-hush" and out of the newspapers. |

| I'm beginning to wonder when I will ever teach again at my school. First of all, because I booked an extra week and a half vacation to tack on to my contract renewal vacation, my school gave me the whole of the summer vacation off saying it wasn't worth me coming in just for a week and half. I got back on Friday and the school calls me up and tells me to take the week off work because I've been abroad....if the school closes this week due to the flu (and a high school just down the road from ours already has)....well |

| Nope, GEPIK. Oh I'm not worried about being cut....I'm already 3 months into my 2nd contract.....but I've been on vacation for 5 and a half weeks, and was supposed to go back today. Because I went abroad I'm being asked to stay away from work until Friday when I pop in and say hello and they can see if I have the pox yet. First day of the new semester for our school is today....just wondering what'll happen if a bunch of the kids turn up with A(H1N1). Not that I mind the extra time off...just feels a bit unreal still being employed but not having worked for so long! |

Hi everyone. My recruiter just told me that the school doesn't want me to teach for the first week because there were two recent swine flu deaths and there is worry. No problem for me, more time to get rid of the dreaded jet lag, but I was wondering if anybody heard anything. Like... where? I looked, but didn't see anything online. |

Some schools are doing things like this- even with Korean teachers who are new or who have traveled during the break. |
