| This one is a bit tough! Had to go with the bad boys from Boston!! I have to represent my roots. In all honesty, AC/DC and the Eagles are also kickass bands. |

Ah....unless you've had a quality control bypass in the musical part of your brain, then you'll recognize The Beatles as the best band ever. By far. No contest. Shut up you idiot.

Wow. Assault on my intelligence simply because I chose one band over another. I would venture to say you may be a little too obsessed with The Beatles if you get this defensive over someone's differing taste in music. I never said the Beatles were a bad band, I just said I like Eagles, and there's numerous reasons beyond the music for that (such as the memories their songs evoke).
BTW, I realize this is an odd selection, and I probably should've included an "Other" option. Alas, what poll isn't flawed by the constraints of time and space? Feel free to leave you other choices in the form of replies. |

| Tool is the most musically talented band I'm aware of, in my opinion. They aren't mass market though. CCR is missing from the poll. I voted for the Rolling Stones. |

Actually, I'm not obsessed with The Beatles at all. I listen to them rarely. But after listening to The Beatles complete works, I do believe that they are the best band ever. And that's what you want, right? A definitive best band ever? It's the Beatles!
Ah, maybe The Eagles are the best band ever.......or maybe it's The Stones......damn......I have to pick one....thats the point of this thread.......hell.....you got me man......I can't choose. The Beatles!! |

I once worked with this guy who wouldn't shut up about the Beatles. He'd always listen to some AM '60s station, and everyday at 4:00, it would be The Fab Four at Four Time. That's right - four Beatles songs back to back. (I called it The Commercial Wh0res at Four.) He'd always make these grandiose statements. "They are the best band." "They have the best lyrics." "They're the most talented musicians ever!" "They've influenced every band." God, that guy was annoying.
I'll give credit where credit's due. It's just that I prefer technical musicians. The Beatles aren't technical enough for me.
How about making a "The Most Technical Band" poll? |

I can't believe somebody voted for Bon Jovi!?!?! I mean seriously....Bon Jovi...the best band ever? Seriously?
I must agree with eamo that "The Beatles" are without a doubt the best band ever. I would put "The Rolling Stones" in second. The other bands in the poll are not even in the same league! |

The Beatles are the inescapable choice for any pop/rock aficionado with a shred of intellectual integrity and self honesty. They shouldn't even be on the list, it would be much more interesting without them.
I'd vote for Mr. Bungle if the poll was limited to the last 20 years. |

I voted Beatles, but I hardly ever listen to them. Actually, one album I play repeatedly is All Things Must Pass by George Harrison. It gets 8/10 (and not full marks) because it's too long and needs 30% chopping off - but the remaining 70% is golden. The only other band I like in the poll is the Stones, but again, I rarely play them these days - maybe overplayed them years ago. All the other groups in the poll have done a few songs I like, but that's the best I can say. It's always fun when Bon Jovi or AC/DC comes on in a bar - but their material hardly ranks amongst rock's most cherished. The only Aerosmith album from their 'classic' era I've heard is Toys in the Attic. I didn't get it - that's why I've never listened to more Aerosmith.
For classic rock, King Crimson's first three albums are astonishing:
1. In the Court of the Crimson King
2. In the Wake of Poseidon
3. Lizard
But I think their other stuff sucks.
