I have 3 dogs, and I cause quite a spectacle every time I take them out for their daily walks. Almost everyone makes a comment, ranging from "How can she handle 3 dogs... Aigu!" to "Cute" to "Watch out, the wrinkled one will tear your head off", etc., etc. I try to take them to areas not very well-travelled in my nieghborhood, but that's pretty difficult given the neighborhood/country in which I live. I want to know what kind of experiences my fellow dog ownere have had, and I have a question: my Shar-Pei, which is fairly big and looks pretty menacing to some people (although he wouldn't hurt a fly), barks at everybody and everything on the street. He barks at people in the elevator, and I am trying to get him to stop. One of the reasons why he does this is because people always react to him- they see him and they either freak out, or they cluck their tounge at him, or they do something else to bother him. I don't know what to do! He needs exercise, and I can't tell everybody I see to leave him alone. Maybe he'll grow out of it, but it's not a pleasant experience to take him for a walk (I have taken him out alone, leaving the other 2 still at home, trying to create less of a spectacle).
One more question! I just moved into a new officetel, and the apartment management said it was ok for me to move in with 3 dogs. However, the dogs bark whenever someone passes by the apartment door. I am worried that people will complain (I don't want to get the dogs de-barked). Has anyone had a problem with their building management/neighbors? Thanks for your input! |

Not to be rude (really), but you've got to be joking. Dogs? I've got two dogs here in the states and the only reason I keep them around is so maybe a cougar will eat one of them and not my wife when she's out hiking.
I can't imagine living in Korea with dogs. Seems like it would tie you down and you wouldn't be able to relax and have fun or just go anywhere at the drop of a hat. It'd be like having kids that never grow up.
But if they'll eat burglars I guess that's a good reason... |

I have a dog, a yorkshire terrier, a big one for his breed. I too have difficulty exercising my buddy because of all the traffics in the neighborhood. But I guess I am lucky enough to live near the World Cup Park. The main problem was how to bring him to the park. So, I made a special back-pack where I can carry my dog safely on my back. We take a 15 minutes' bicycle ride together to the park and then he can walk as long as he wants(I do drive with him to the park. But because of the parking fee I chose to use my bike.)I would recommend any parks especially the ones on the riverside to give your dogs their exercises. So it would be difficult without a car or at least one of more friends.
On the barking problem I can't say how it would go. I do get some complains from time to time but generally people are quite tolerant about my dog being noisy at times. So...
And by the way I always admire people who has (and walks) two or more dogs. Good luck. |

Say it isn't true! Up until now I really admired you!
I'm sorry, I didn't have anything helpful to say and I ought to keep quiet. But time, energy and concern for a dog? Ok, Ok, I'll shut up about it... |

At least they aren't say "wouldn't that one make a nice soup?"
