Allo. So recently I've been thinking about home quite a lot, still a while to go until my contract is up, anywho.
I started to think about a networking issue I have back at home that I would have to deal with when I return.
The main router is in the main part of the home, mmk? And I will be taking the summer house as my bedroom which is way back at the end of the garden.
Currently we have a network cable going from the house to the summer house which provides 1 device with internet connection...sweet.
But if I move in there, there will be more than 1 device using the internet...oh noes.
I've tried these wireless booster signal thingies before but wasn't too impressed with the results.
So recently I did a bit of research about these 'mains LAN' thingie bobbies.
So for you who don't know, you plug a device into the mains socket, and connect your router to it via CAT5.
You then plug the other device (it comes in pairs) to another power socket anywhere in the house and connect it to your device via CAT5 or Wireless.
Problem solved!
...However, I haven't tested it and don't know anyone who has.
The only problem I've heard is that they get a bit hot.
Has anyone tried one of these babies out or can anyone fill me in with a little bit of info. |
