Has anyone done hot yoga in Seoul recently?
Any recommendations and directions to a good place? Some places I heard of don't seem to be in business anymore.
Thank you! |

Hi! I just arrived in Yeonsu-il-dong near Incheon a couple days ago. I'm also interested in Hot Yoga but it'll be about 1.5 hour trip to Seoul for me. Does anyone know of any hot yoga classes available closer to my area?? Thanks |

apparently its usually only for girls as some girls like to strip down while they do it (from the heat)
there was someone posting an ad for it a few weeks ago, but there was something a little strange about the ad and I think the user deleted their posts when that was pointed out. |

There are places everywhere. It's quite the fad now.
Do a Naver or Daum search for "hot yoga (your town)" in Korean. Get a Korean friend to help if you can't read or type Korean letters.
Yes, some places are for women only, because the women will get down to next to nothing. So if you're a chick, you're cool. One of my ex g/f went to one of these places. She said they all started clothed, but by the end of it, most were topless. A few brave ones would get down to their granny panties, but that would be it. However, when she noticed the excitement in my eyes and all my boyhood fantasies coming true in my mind, she quickly squashed that. "It's a bunch of sweaty, stinky girls, and some ajumma. Many people fart too. Stop being pyeontae (perverted)"... Alas, another dream dies.
Of course there are some with mixed classes and all male classes. If you want to strip down in one of those, by all means, be my guest. Wish I could see the looks on your classmates faces though, hahaha. But most hot yoga places are like any normal yoga studio. Mixed classes of people of various ages and abilities. I would do it more often, but it's just so damn expensive right now. A one month membership at some places is like $350, for 2 or 3 classes a week. That's nuts, and I've got student loans to pay, I can't afford it.
But also, many places wont have English speaking instructors. Because, well, you guessed it, this is Korea. A lot of the Yogi's do study in places like Thailand or India to get certification, so some basic English is required. But, like many other English speaking Koreans, they're going to be ubber shy about talking to you, especially in front of more Koreans. So if you're the only foreigner in the class, expect to be largely ignored. Not because they dislike you, just, it feels awkward for them to be teaching everyone, then walk over to you, break the whole vibe they've got going with everyone else, to awkwardly communicate with you, when in the end, neither of you may completely understand each other. So there's that.
There is one place around Apgujung that has a Thai instructor. He only speaks English, so all his classes are in English. And from what I've heard, the classes are about half Koreans and half foreigners. That might be a place to check out if you're near Apgujung. But his prices are even higher than everyone else. It's nuts how much they charge to just do some stretches in a hot room for a while, but hey, supply meets the demand. |

Wow maybe it pays to teach hot yoga in Seoul haha didn't know it's become so popular...
Anyone with specific studios and experiences to share? I definitely need to find a place to practise because I am doing it pretty regularly now... |
