I'm not trying to be an activist here, but I just wanted people to know that there is a donation service here. I was browsing korea4home.com and saw this ad: Salvation Army Thrift Stores in Korea
I wouldn't have really cared, but yesterday I was reading cubinlord's recent topic about selling pencils. I read Demophobe's 2007 post Pencil for sale and then his follow-up post, after mod locking, Just give it away.... and read his/her explanation.
Demo is right though, why should we penny-pinch over small items such as a used box of crayons or a broom and dust pan set? Demophobe recommended using a church as a service for accepting your goods. Apparently there are additional services here too! And the best thing is that the Salvation Army will come to your home and pick up your stuff (in Gyeonggi and Seoul). They have a naver blog too but it's all in Korean.
I'm not against making money on personal used goods, but small useful things would best be used in a poor Korean family's home. Also, for a few bucks more anyways, you could just buy the items new online, like with gmarket. That's my strategy. |
