Anyone have experience of living there? I see from searching that lots of people have been negative about Incheon, but has anyone lived in the Nam-gu region? |

I worked at a Wonderland in Nam-Gu, Incheon a few years ago. It's ok, there are some decent hof bars, and a CGV movie theater, Outback Steakhouse, TGI Fridays etc are a short walk away.
You aren't too far from the subway lines, Munhak Sports Complex on the Incheon line, and Juan on line 1 that goes to Seoul. Seoul is at least an hour and 20 mins. away by subway.
When I lived there, there weren't many other expats around, just about 5 or 6. I was quite lucky that most of them were good people.
Bupyeong is the most happening part of Incheon, and you'd be about 20 mins from there by car, or 45 mins by walking and subway. So not very close in my opinion.
So Nam-Gu is ok, perhaps even quite good if you like the quiet life, but there's not much happening there and you'd be fairly far from a decent night out. Hope this helps. |

I don't live in Nam-Gu but some of my friends have. Its not generally the most sought after area of Incheon, though there is a decent student area around Juan station, but you might get bored if you are in an area of Nam-Gu thats far from the subway. if you like the school and make some friends in the area you'll probably like it, but otherwise it can be a long commute to any areas with a bigger expat scene. |
