If any of you were considering getting a VOIP service I'd like to point out that voipo.com is having a sale now on their unlimited plan.
I'm a happy customer of theirs, and so am recommending their service (had them for about a year) and it seems to work well wherever in the world I am (as long as I have a decent internet connection).
They've beta tested their system for over 2 years and have a lot of fans over at:
www.dslreports.com/forum/voip - under VOIP tech chat.
If you'd like a referral code PM me, you'll get a free month of service. |

With taxes and fees, it comes to $135.
Unless there is a promo code out there that takes care of that. |

Another option:
I use a calling card that you can buy from most travel agents.
It gives me about 12 hours of phone-phone talk time for 30K Won ($24US).
It really depends on how much you use it, but it's a great deal for me and I don't have to mess with the PC.
It also works with your cell, but you'll only get about half the hours. |

Promo code will give you 1 month free.
Calling cards are good, but I think the voice quality of VOIP using a high bandwidth codec like g711 is better. |

Use Skype. 2 cents a minute. Or if you talk a lot, Skype-Skype, which is free. |

Skype is the cheaper option, but forces you to use your computer. The unlimited plan on Skype is not bad too, and comes with a free DID (incoming number). |

Don't calling cards expire after a couple months?
I usually use 00700 to call the US from my cell phone. Its pretty cheap considering I can just call from my cell phone. I'm not limited to being at home to call overseas. |

i just use google voice and a sip provider
guess what....IT'S FREE. I can call anywhere in America. I'm not sure about Canada (don't know anybody living there now).
the downside is that you must be on your computer - or use your cell phone (using internet minutes). during the hours that my friends/family is awake i am at home anyways. |
