I dunno. He did seem to have some pre-set reasons for thinking that the sign would not be allowed on school property. It didn't seem to me like he was just arbitrarily deciding to ban the sign because it was anti-Obama.

At most, I think what the cop meant was something like "Well, if you think America gives you the write to break the law, I guess this ain't America". Sort of like a Dave's discussion where someone says "Well, if being against crooked hagwon owners makes me an anti-Korean racist, I guess I'm an anti-Korean racist". |

I think this is a pretty reasonable interpretation of what the cop was saying.
Mind you, I think the police officer didn't do a good job here, and played directly into the hands of the Obama-hater. He should have been able to articulate exactly why the man couldn't display that utterly ridiculous sign on school grounds. Of course, anyone who feels they're in the position to argue about the legality or constitutionality of anything should be familiar enough with the law to realize why he couldn't put the sign there in the first place. |
