My bank lists 1256 as the remittance rate at this moment. I think that for most expats with a plump savings account right now would be happy to see at least 1200 if not 1150. I doubt that will happen for the next couple of years anyway.

It's been trading around this point for the past few months. I'd count myself lucky if the dollar traded for 1200 come January.

I'll probably dump most of my money if it gets to that point. I remember it being around 1200 back in 2003 when I first got here and I never thought anything about sending money home back then. I think most of us just got spoiled during that 1-1 1/2 year period where it was under 1000 won to the dollar.

the dollar is going to tank.

the problem is not nearly to the same extent vs the won as against real currencies. that's why even though I'm going get the multiple currency account available thru KEB it's going to be useless, because exchanging won into euro for example is forced sodomy without a lubricant.

I think odds are excellent we'll see 1200 to 1 fairly soon. I'm crossing my fingers for 1150.

The problem by the time the won returns to 1000 to 1 vs the USD, almost every single other currency will have skyrocketed far more.

I'm going to take a hard look at China when my contract ends.

I don't know, but wasn't the Won trading stably under 1000:1 for a few years? That alone makes me guess that the exchange rate is bound to go back down in the future.

I'd like to see the CDN dollar tank. It is getting stronger and stronger against the won and the greenback.

The exchange for Canadians still sucks. My salary is down $100/month from where it was 6 months ago.

If you think the Canadian dollar is high now when oil is $73 wait until oil rises above $120 again and see how high the Canadian 'Petro' Dollar goes
