Well, it's Sunday night. Tomorrow is work.

Do you get the dreads? That sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach that comes with knowing you have another week to endure.

Not so much dreading work, more of a depression knowing that i have 6 empty days until Saturday night comes around again.

This morning I had a shower at 7.15 and then laid in bed for a full hour, refusing to get ready. Happy Monday.

Sounds like somebody's got a case of the "Mondays".

Not really, I spend Sunday evening working on the lesson plans for the upcoming week. Not so much detailing them as looking for variations on the activities and other things I can add that will make it fun. Once Monday is out of the way, it's smooth sailing for me.
But, yeah, I know what you mean. I used to get that but not anymore.

The worst is when it's the last Sunday of your vacation and you have to go back to school in 12 hours. That's when I get a serious case of the dreads.

If you don't teach little kiddies, it's not that bad.

I more or less enjoy going to work, it's just getting up early that bothers me, especially after a long vacation period. Waking up at 7:45 makes me a little bit sick to my stomache.

What I hate is that my schedule makes the dreads last even longer. I don't start work until 3 on monday, but I usually wake up early anyway (8/9ish). Then I have all day to think about going to work...

Yes, but not every week. The first day of a class is hard to take. Having to get to know a new batch of students... ugh. I like going to work later on once I know my classes.

At the beginning of the terms I get it a bit. I try out new lesson plans on Monday and sometimes they're complete flops and I end up standing at the front of the class feeling awkward and filling time with games. Usually about a month in, for some reason or another my Monday classes have been canceled at least once and so they're a week behind and I'm doing last week's lesson plans with them that have been thoroughly tested. The new lesson plans don't start until Tuesday, and by then I'm warmed up.

Every year I look through last year's lesson plans thinking I can just reuse them, and every year I notice that they suck, despite not having sucked last year. This is some unwritten rule of the universe I'm sure.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, do you get the 'tinglies' when it gets close to 4:30 on a Friday?
You know, it's kind of like your butthole gets all tingly like you need to poop and you get a slight case of goosebumps, like you're being tickled, and a slight dizziness like you just popped an amyl nitrate.

I do.

One habit I always hate about myself where I am is that it's not necessarily Sunday night that I get the dreads, it's about ninety minutes before I head into the office, when I think of the 1,001 things I could be doing. As I'm shaving and showering, I ponder going to the park and watching old people play baduk, going shopping from West Seoul to East Seoul, seeing how far I can hike away from my house before I get tired and turn around. Pretty much every dumb thing I could have done on a weekend, but I spent much of that time cultivating a social life and recovering.

Yeah, that regretful feeling is always a killer as well. As you look around the house you think "If I only had today off, then I would get all of this clean, finish that book I was reading, go pay my bills...etc."
But you realize later that if you had the day off, you'd just have another gin and tonic for breakfast
